Around the corner and around the world
...and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all
Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
Acts 1:8
Volunteers In Misson
Brandenburg UMC works with the United Methodist Volunteers in
Mission Southeastern Jurisdiction (UMVIM SEJ) to provide national and
international opportunities to reach beyond the walls of our local
congregation. As we have been blessed, so also are we to be a blessing.
Please choose a category:
- UMVIM International Mission Trips
Previous international trips have included Venezuela in 2004 and 2005, Kenya in 2006, and Honduras in 2007. Trips are generally 10-19 days in duration and provide construction, medical, teaching, training, and evangelism opportunities. This is an interdenominational effort and we frequently partner with other churches when putting together a team. Open to youth 16 and over with parental consent.
- UMVIM Katrina Disaster Response Mission Trips, Pass Christian MS
One-week mission trips provide construction, cleanup, and caring support
opportunities to those impacted by hurricane Katrina. The United Methodist
Church is committed to five-year support in the Gulfport area. Our teams
often partner with other churches in this effort open to youth 14 and over
with parental consent.
- UMVIM Henderson Settlement, KY
Extended weekend work camp experiences provide construction and lighter
duty work opportunities to the Southeast Kentucky Appalachia region. The
keywords for the Henderson work camp experience are serving and learning -
learning by serving. The 'poor' are not somehow inferior, as though their
value depended on net worth. Shedding that point of view is sometimes the
hardest thing for a visitor to do, much harder than pouring concrete.
Understanding both the diversity and the commonality of all people often
provides a fresh perspective on our own life situations.
